This paper deals with location-based services and maps. We analyse the
basic elements such as positioning, information modelling and
presentation as the main fields of research, and the state of the art of currently used location-based systems. We present selected research
experiences such as the potential of cartographic presentation forms,
positioning of active landmarks, modelling and visualization of guiding and navigation for pedestrians. TeleCartography is the distribution of cartographic presentation forms via wireless data transfer interfaces and mobile devices.
