English abstract:
This research was undertaken to explore the differences between field and laboratory settings in terms of the emotional description of the environment. For this purpose, test subjects were shown photographs of environments in both a laboratory setting and in a field setting and asked to answer questions. For this study, three difference settings each were selected in two small cities: a pedestrian area, a run-down small street and a park. Each setting was presented two times: once in an environment with which the test subjects were familiar, and once in an environment that was unfamiliar to them. 22 test subjects took part in the study. They were 14 to 16 years of age, with the average being 15.1 years. The test subjects were subdivided into two groups. One of the groups did the field test in an environment that was familiar to them and the laboratory test in an unfamiliar environment. The other group did the field test in an environment that was unfamiliar to them and the laboratory test in a familiar environment. The test subjects were asked open questions about how they were feeling (fieldtest) and how they would feel if they were in the place shown (laboratory test). The answers were grouped into categories and scored in terms of frequency.
