English abstract:
Recently, the need for more detailed 3D city-models increased. Usually, for the acquisition of data that are necessary to infer such a model, airborne laser scanning and aerial photogrammetry
is used. For the creation of highly detailed city-models, terrestrial methods are needed additionally.
With the so-called "range imaging" (RIM), special cameras come into operation, whose sensors are able to determine runtime of an emitted signal simultaneously for each pixel. From that runtime, the distance to the object can be determined directly. At the same time, the amplitude of the reflected signal is recorded with a rate of several frames per second. Especially cameras which are based on photonic mixure devices (PMD) can nowadays be mass-produced in a very cost effective way. PMD cameras can measure distances to a maximum of about ten meters. For that reason, these cameras are suitable for the creation of city-models.
Within this thesis, a method to measure an object with an extent of some meters using range cameras and to infer a model from that dataset is presented². In this process, large distances occur in connection with range cameras. For this reason, especially the pictures containing the distance information show a significant amount of noise. To reduce this effects, the range camera
is mounted on a tripod during the survey, and a sequence of pictures with the same orientation is averaged (static pictures). The orientation of the pictures is carried out in two steps. For the approximate orientation the pictures containing the amplitude information and the distance information, which were collected between two static pictures (moved pictures), are used. In the pictures containing the amplitude information, which show a higher precision than the pictures containing the distance information, tie-points in the image-space are determined by using the Speeded-Up Robust Features(SURF)-algorithm. The images containing the distance information are used to transform these tie-points to the object space and to calculate the orientation of an image from those assigned to the prevenient image, using a spatial resection. The fine- orientation is carried out using 3D-pointclouds, which were derived from static images using
an option of the Iterative Closest Point (ICP)-algorithm. The triangulation of the unified pointclouds using the fine-orientation serves as model and result. To show an exemplary employment
of the presented process, a shopping arcade was partially surveyed and evaluated. The result of the modelling is optically appealing, but reveals significant differences between the object and
the model. Furthermore, local deformations exist in the model.

Footnotes:
²According to the available information it was the first time, that an object with a dimension of several meters was recorded using a range camera including the derivation of a model.
