English abstract:
For the construction of tunnels using the new Austrian Tunnelling Method (NAT) or shield excavation many different construction machines are employed. These machines need guidance and steering systems. For that purpose different sensors are employed to obtain the position and orientation of the machine. The employed system for the guidance of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be described and analyzed. As an example, the machinery and guidance system employed for the construction of the sole in the railway tunnel from Vienna to the Tullnerfeld (i.e., the so-called `Wienerwald Tunnel´) will be described more in detail in the paper.
