English abstract:
This paper deals with the context of cartography and the Internet. It briefly discusses the technological background of the Internet and especially the World Wide Web. It highlights possibilities of using the Internet as a vehicle for distributing maps and analyzes methods, techniques and tools for gaining access to online cartographic material including the development of interactive online cartographic information systems.
